POSITION: SPECIAL PROGRAMS DIRECTOR
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Arts/Science in related fields. Local Education Agency experience is
preferred but not required.
State Certification not required.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have previous successful work experience and work record.
SPECIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Ability to administer federal program duties related to the Title VI/JOM grants and
contracts. Ability to work professionally with confidential information.
Ability to support and communicate with program staff in district sites for the
purpose of supporting and advocating for the unique needs of American Indian
students.
Ability to support and communicate with the Parent Advisory Committee members
and district stakeholders regarding program goals and objectives.
Ability to work with district leadership, instructional staff, parents, community
partners, and tribal entities in the capacity of support and advocacy for the unique
educational needs of American Indian students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Comply with current APS School Board Policy.
Comply with relevant Code of Federal Regulations pertaining to Bureau of Indian Education
funding and Office of Indian Education funding.
Reports to the Superintendent of Schools for daily program function.
Reports monthly program function to the Parent Advisory Committee during monthly IEC
meetings. Sets the schedule for the IEC meetings annually in alignment with the local school
board calendar.
Provides daily, weekly, and occasional weekend administration of program activities in
relation to the Educational Plan set annually by the Parent Advisory Committee.
Annually monitor student progress made by students receiving program services and
translating that into tailored student supports administered by program staff.
Coordinate with site principals in student support services and site staff schedules annually
to successfully implement program activities..
Annually coordinates the Tribal Consultation/Public Hearing process to support tribal
community input and feedback for district and program activities.
